Summer 2021 Progress Report

Hi, everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these. Progress was slow this Summer for a lot of reasons (many of them of which are private), so this report will be for what happened overall this Summer. I didn’t date what things got accomplished this time around, so I have to go based off my memory. Here’s what got done:

  • Finished the first page of the last comic
  • Finished the script for the last comic
  • Got the second preview comic book printed! The quality is FANTASTIC!
  • Created a Tik Tok account for AZD
  • Created a Twitter account for AZD
  • Ordered my very first set of business cards

I know I mentioned that a lot got in the way of progress this Summer, so I will list reasons that I am able to publicly disclose:

  • Job Hunting – going to interviews, filling out applications, reaching out to people, etc.
  • Adjusting to my full-time hours at McDonalds (got hired August 23rd)
  • Got sick a few times

I feel bad about the lack of progress, but I have a good feeling that things will change for the better. ESPECIALLY that I am now employed again 😀

Have a great day!

A small sneak peek of what got accomplished this Summer. Poor pink dude 😦

I am a self-taught comic book artist/writer. I have written two comic books so far, to present just a snippet of what goes on in my brain. I love my characters in Space Grind dearly, even though they go through some chaotic stuff... While not all of the lore is set in stone, please check out my self-published comics 'Space Grind: House Havoc' & 'Space Grind: Robot Takeover!' on Amazon.com

  1. Hey, Alex, I’m glad you’re making some promise even if it’s slow going. One thing I wanna ask. Do you use storyboards? I was surprised to recently learn that’s become standard in the industry… Right now I’m laying my story out in my own format until I format out pages, panels, etc. Feel free to add me on Facebook. I’m 59 and wonder if it’s too late for me, but feel I must try. Once I go back to work, we’ll see how things go.

    1. Hello, Aaron. Storyboards are definitely mandatory in the animation industry, but when you’re a comic book artist, you’re more flexible with how you wanna outline your story. I didn’t use storyboards for my comics, but I do wanna learn how to do that for animation. And it’s absolutely NEVER too late. Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel, didn’t make his comics until he was in his forties, and look how successful he became! 😉 Your big ideas have a place in the world because YOU have a place in the world. I wish you luck!
